In a remote estate in the Dutch village of Drunen, the remains of an amusement park called Land van Ooit (the Land of Ever) can be found. Due to bankruptcy, the park had to be closed and the new owner now plans to build a high-tech campus in its place. The new construction plans of this project require the relocation of a water transport pipe by half a kilometer.
From old to new: installation in just one hour
Project background
To supply the new campus with water, a new water transport pipeline had to be installed. The installation of this new PE pipeline was carried out using the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method. To complete the project, the newly installed HDPE pipeline had to be connected to an existing Asbestos Cement pipeline with an outer diameter of 500 millimeters. Contractor Vissers Ploegmakers collaborated with Water Board Aa en Maas and the municipality of Heusden. While the municipality handled the tender and contract, the water board ensured precise technical specifications in the design and supervised the implementation.
Selected technical solution
The AC pipe and HDPE pipe were flawlessly connected using the versatile MULTI/JOINT® 3000 Plus DN500 coupling, specially chosen for this project. Why was this specific fitting selected? “Of course, there are more couplings on the market we could have used. However, the water board is very satisfied with MULTI/JOINT®. This is a wide-range restraint coupler and suitable for various pipe materials” revealed Fred Bergman, maintenance engineer at the Water Board Aa en Maas. Its versatility, broad compatibility with different pipe materials, and reliable restraint made it their preferred choice.
Achieved improvement
Thanks to its exceptional adaptability, MULTI/JOINT® is the fitting the water board frequently relies on. Its remarkable versatility makes it an invaluable choice. The restraint coupling has demonstrated its excellence with a seamless installation completed in just one hour.
