A division of the Georg Fischer Corporation

As one of the three corporate groups, the other two being GF Automotive and GF AgieCharmilles, GF Piping Systems represents a major factor in the overall performance of the Georg Fischer Corporation, which is quoted on the stock exchange. The firm, founded in 1802 and headquartered in Schaffhausen (Switzerland), generated annual sales in the order of 2.9 billion Swiss francs (2009) and employs approximately 12,500 persons worldwide.

With CHF 1,066 million in sales for 2009 and an Ebit of CHF 80 million, GF Piping Systems contributes approx. 37 percent to corporate turnover. Over 4,200 employees work in the sales and production companies spread throughout the world. The GF Piping Systems Group with its headquarters in Schaffhausen comprises over 50 companies, of which several have been acquired in the past few years.

Certified management systems

Effective management systems are a basic requirement for controlling and improving business processes. They guarantee stable processes, consistently high product quality and sustainable success in business. All production companies and the majority of sales companies at GF Piping Systems are ISO 9001:2000 certified. An active quality management system makes sure that all business processes operate stably, are continually monitored and improved.

Environmental and economic efficiency

All of the production companies at GF Piping Systems have been certified according to ISO 14 001. This means that an active environmental management system is in place, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and the continuous improvement of environmental performance. With more than 50 years of experience in plastic piping system applications, GF Piping Systems has long been engaged in the service of a clean environment. An example of this is the complete, pre-insulated COOL-FIT system for secondary cooling and refrigeration piping systems. It combines ecological with economic benefits.

Clean Water – a privilege and social commitment

One of our most valuable resources is clean water and one of the major challenges we face today is providing people with a reliable supply of drinking water. GF Piping Systems contributes to the global infrastructure for water supply and treatment with their comprehensive solutions. Water must be transported without the risk of contamination, systems must be safe and economical and the control valves reliable and easy to operate. GF Piping Systems satisfies all these requirements with leakproof, corrosion-resistant and durable plastic piping systems.

However, more than one-fifth of the world population does not have access to clean water. To alleviate this acute situation, the Georg Fischer Corporation created the Clean Water Foundation in 2002. For the 200-year anniversary of the corporation, the stockholders gave up a special dividend in order to fund the Clean Water Foundation with 3.5 million Swiss francs. Georg Fischer has since been strongly dedicated to this purpose and has supported in more than 70 projects throughout the world with more than five million Swiss francs up to the end of 2009. Thanks to these efforts, more than 120,000 people now have better access to drinking water. GF continues to support the Foundation with a considerable contribution every year.
