Project background
Since opening in January 2024, Schlossbadi Frauenfeld has operated a large-scale water circulation system, moving around 6,800 m³ of water per day across its indoor and outdoor pools. The full water volume is renewed roughly every 1.5 hours. Maintaining this level of performance requires dependable valve and piping solutions throughout the entire system. This is particularly important in critical areas such as the suction pipes of the sports pools, where components must work reliably at all time, even after extended shutdowns like the winter break, to support a safe, trouble-free restart.
Selected technical solution
For this project, approximately 800 valves, including ball, butterfly and diaphragm valves, were installed, along with approximately 5.5 kilometers of ecoFit and ELGEF Plus piping components from GF. The setup includes manual and actuated ball valves from the 546 Pro and 542 series, diaphragm valves, metal and thermoplastic butterfly valves like the type 565, and VAG gate valves. As part of a field test during the development of the extended product range, the new Butterfly Valve 565 Big (DN400) was also installed on the suction pipe of the sports pool. This valve was specifically designed for large-diameter applications above DN300.
Achieved improvement
The installation of the Butterfly Valve 565 Big demonstrated strong reliability under real operating conditions. Even after extended periods of inactivity, the valve operates smoothly without jamming, effectively resolving a known issue in day-to-day operation. Combined with automated water treatment control, the corrosion-free design reduces maintenance efforts, supports stable flow conditions, reduces the need for manual intervention, and contributes to safer, more efficient pool operations overall.
