AquaTap™ Recirculating Faucet

AquaTap™ recirculating system is a faucet and an Inline Flow Diverter (IFD) which work together to continually recirculate water and maintain the highest purity throughout the DI water loop.

Laboratories use high purity water for multiple purposes, directly affecting the results of an experiment. The quality of water delivered through inadequately selected laboratory purified water faucets or direct flow fixtures is often overlooked. Bacteria or biofilm will grow when the faucet is not in operation and the water becomes stagnant.

Most laboratory faucets do not factor this in, and therefore unknowingly taint the water quality by introducing microbial contamination to the water being dispensed from the faucet.

AquaTap System

The AquaTap recirculating laboratory faucet system is designed to create a constant motion of liquid by circulating it from the supply lines to the closest proximity of the faucet outlet. This constant circulation even occurs when the faucet is not being used, preventing stagnation of water and bacterial growth.

A complete recirculating system: Faucet and Inline Flow Diverter

GF has decades of experience in engineering high purity piping systems and solutions, and our expertise led us to develop the AquaTap recirculating faucet system which consists of a faucet and an inline flow diverter (IFD). Both components work in conjunction to not only continually recirculate water throughout the system, but also maintain the highest purity water throughout the process.

The IFD is uniquely engineered by applying Bernoulli's principle to create a differential pressure imbalance within the IFD which is the driving force for the water to circulate to faucet and back to the IFD.

AquaTap IFD Flow and Pressure Characteristics Calculator

Enter the input flow rate of the main line and the distance of the AquaTap faucet away from the IFD, and the calculator will provide the pressure loss in the main line in PSI as well as the recirculation flow rate in GPM.

Innovative solution for high quality DI water system

The AquaTap™ Recirculating Faucets, designed and specified for installation within the O’Connor Building at Rice University in Texas by Wylie Engineering, were installed to eliminate dead legs and ensure a continuous flow of high quality water throughout the DI piping system. The inline flow diverter (IFD), designed for use with the AquaTap™ Faucet, is engineered to produce a small pressure differential that forces a portion of the recirculating DI piping loop through the faucet (up to 50 feet). Using the AquaTap™/IFD package promotes efficient recirculation and reduces the need for complex piping layouts. This setup allows for the use of smaller pipes (diameter) and support.
