Aeration tank

One of the most common methods for removing iron and manganese from the water is through aeration and then filtration, and diligent backwashing. Iron and manganese create discoloration and bad taste of the water and can also cause clogging of small dimension valves etc.

Aeration reduces carbonic acid and the pH value increases as well as the levels of many unwanted substances in the water (excluding PFAS, pesticides etc.)

  • Ensures effective aeration with counter-blowing through filter media.
  • Reduces carbon dioxide and odors Precipitates iron, manganese, etc.
  • Increases pH before any alkalisation step.
  • May be delivered in sections to be able to be installed in confined spaces.
  • Inspection hatch at the top and on the side.
  • Made of drinking water approved material.
  • Dimension range 2000-3500 mm

Alkalisation tank

Low alkalinity can increase corrosion in the network,  by iron being dissolved from the network's material. The higher the alkalinity, the more oxygen is needed to change the pH and the lower the alkalinity, the easier the water's pH value changes. Drinking water pH range is normally specified to 7,5-9,0.

  • Increases pH by use of limestone.

  • Safe and clean process, no risk of overdosing.

  • Easy inspection and replenishment of limestone.

  • Backwashing filter media to clear away iron, manganese and humus.

  • Patented functional design.

  • Made of drinking water approved material

Products for water distribution

Water distribution products keep the water flowing consistently in the distribution network. With the help of water distribution products, you can easily maintain the water network and ensure that the network has a long service life.

Pressure boosting station

A pressure boosting station increases the pressure in a water pipeline when the pressure from the water tower isn’t enough for serving the recipients with water. A typical example is a living area that is located on high ground or far away from the water tower. It can also be used when there is no water tower in the area.

  • Can be integrated into reservoirs or as a stand-alone unit
  • Equipment is based on customer specifications
  • Delivered ready to install
  • Lockable door in metal or plastic
  • Water-tight

Accessories:

  • UV disinfection
  • Pumps, flow meters, valves etc. according to the customer's specification
  • Lightweight
  • Heater
  • Robust ladder
  • Sampling point

Pressure reducing chamber

A water distribution network is dimensioned to ensure that the pressure can be kept within defined limits to serve all users. Topological differences within the area usually requires that the system is divided into different pressure zones. Too high pressure increases the risk of pipe leakages as well as the amount of water lost. With the help of pressure reducing chamber, two different pressure zones can be connected.

  • Hosts equipment for limiting the pressure to a desired level and to reduce risk of pipe bursts
  • It is usually installed in low land areas where otherwise may be an over pressure
  • May contain sensors for pressure monitoring etc

Valve chamber

A valve chamber is a protection to the valve and its connections. A watertight chamber will ensure the valve structure have a long lifespan. It ensures also that the point is accessible when needed. A valve chamber is an attractive and natural point for entering monitoring equipment as pressure sensors etc. thanks to its accessibility. It may also contain sampling point and chlorination point.

Standard

  • Increases equipment life.
  • Reduces maintenance cost and time.
  • Comes with valve package according to customer's specification.
  • Self-anchoring.
  • Drain pump (optional)

Console version

  • Anchoring bracket for the valve package is molded into reinforced concrete slab to reduce pressure stroke.
  • The chamber is tested and approved  according to MiljØblad 112 at RISE Technical Institute.
  • Increases equipment life.
  • Comes with valve package according to customer's specification.
  • Drain pump (optional)
  • Enables installation of fire valve, air release valve, sampling and disinfection (based on selection)

Air release chamber

Air release valves are used in pipelines to release non wanted air and to maintain system performance. Air release valves should ideally be placed at strategic high places in pipelines where air pockets can accumulate. The valve usually also allow air to return into the pipeline if emptying of water is needed. An air-release chamber can be designed for inline- or offline installations.

  • Enables air to be released from the media pipe
  • Allows air to enter if the pipe is emptied from water
  • Can be designed for in-line or off-line installation
  • With the correct use of air release valves, you can reduce:
    • Energy consumption and operating costs
    • Corrosion
    • Pressure loss
    • Filling times of the piping system
    • Risk of pressure stroke
    • Inaccuracies in flow and quality measurement

Measuring chamber

A measuring chamber is a protective unit hosting various type of measuring equipment. Most common is mechanical consumption meters or digital flow meters connected to a automation system. The chamber hosts and protects equipment for monitoring operations. Chambers are to be positioned in strategically important locations* where it enables obsolete consumption pattern or water parameters.

Typical parameters monitored are;

  • Flow
  • Pressure
  • Temperature
  • Quality

* Ideal when designing DMA's (District Metering Areas)

Pigging chamber

Deposit and sediment will build up in the drinking water pipe network over time. Pipe bursts will also cause debris to accumulate in the pipes. Pigging is a method to scratch off deposit and remove it  from the pipe wall. A plug is entered into the pipe and transported by use of water or air. The plug and the debris is collected at a receiving point.

  • Pigging chamber allows easy access to the media pipe during flushing or cleaning
  • A pigging chamber can be used as entry and exit point (design specific)
  • Reduces preparation time, no need for excavation or cutting pipe
  • Different 'plugs' can be used as foamed rubber or ice slurry

Success stories

Drinking water solution to Levi's tourism mecca

Levi, Finland

The ski slopes of Levi, Finland attract thousands of tourists every year. Water consumption varies greatly, which is why the water intake plant in Kirakka in Levi was renovated to meet the consumption peaks during peak seasons. As part of the project, GF delivered two huge reservoir tanks to ensure a sufficient supply of clean water in the area.

Reservoir tank for the unordinary village of Tuuri

Alavus, Finland

In an ordinary village with less than 1,000 residents, a reservoir tank would normally be unnecessary, but Tuuri in Southern Ostrobothnia in Western Finland is not an ordinary village. The village tourist attraction draws visitors up to six million visitors annually. This needs a special solution for potable water delivery.
