This Product Data Collection and Use Notice is provided in accordance with the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854) and applies to GF Welding Machines and Tools manufactured by Georg Fischer Piping Systems Ltd. and Georg Fischer Omicron S.r.l.
During operation, GF welding machines capture and store data to ensure full traceability and quality documentation of the fusion process. The devices record machine data such as machine type, serial number, software version, service status, and service due date, as well as welding process data including date and time, fusion data, fusion number, fusion status, temperature, time, material data, and manually entered information such as worksite and welder identification. Depending on the model, additional information such as videos of the welding process (IR-A) or images of the weld bead (WBI-Tool) may also be collected.
The typical data volume is approximately 3 kilobytes per weld, and video data may reach about 25 megabytes per minute. Data generation is user-initiated and occurs only when a welding operation is actively started. The data may be stored and exported in various formats, depending on the machine type, including PDF, XML(IR-M, IR-A), TXT (WBI), DBF (IR-Plus, BCF-Plus), CSV (CNC,MSA), BIN (MSA), and can be transferred via USB stick, Bluetooth connection to smartphones (MSA, CNC, TOP), or uploaded to a GF cloud platform. Data can also be printed directly on a protocol using a connected printer. Access to collected data is possible through the WeldinAir, WeldinOne, and CONNECT Welding mobile or desktop applications(https://marketplace.connect.gfps.com/p/welding). API access is not available.
Data stored on the device is retained until manually deleted, and data stored in the cloud remains available until manual deletion, service deactivation, or decommissioning. Data can be deleted by sending the machine to an authorized GF Service Center or through an authorized service technician on site. Depending on the device model, some data may be overwritten automatically when storage capacity is reached, for example, IR BCF/Plus devices overwrite data after 2,500 protocols, and MSA 160 and 315 models delete all collected data when memory is full. CNC and WBI-Tool devices allow manual deletion by the user. Users can access their data at any time via the listed applications, web portal, or by exporting via USB.
For any questions regarding data management, access, or deletion, please contact Georg Fischer Piping Systems Ltd. or Georg Fischer Omicron S.r.l. through the appropriate regional service contact.
