Regina Halmich

Regina Halmich has had a much-noticed and successful career as a professional boxer, during which the "boxing queen" became world champion in flyweight several times. Regina Halmich (*1976) started her sporting career as a judoka at the age of eleven. Through karate and kickboxing, she finally came to boxing and, as an amateur boxer, became German champion three times between 1992 and 1994 and European champion in 1994. In 1994, she became professional European champion in super flyweight and successfully defended her title the following year. In the same year she became World Champion of the "Women International Boxing Federation" in Junior Flyweight. Between 1998 and 2000 she was WIBF world champion in flyweight, as well as in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. After that she ended her professional boxing career. In the course of her successful career, she fought 56 professional fights, 48 of which were world championship fights - she won 46 fights. After the end of her boxing career, Regina Halmich is occasionally seen as co-host and expert in TV broadcasts of boxing fights. She is also known for her show boxing fights against TV presenter Stefan Raab and as presenter of "The Biggest Loser" in 2010 and 2011. 2008 she is the protagonist of the documentary film "Queen in the Ring", which was awarded the Hessian Film Prize. Regina Halmich has received numerous awards, including several times the Golden Pyramid and the Boxer of the Year award. In 1997, she was voted the world's best boxer by the WIBF and in 2013 she received the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg. In the summer of 2014 she was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in Florida. Regina Halmich also does a lot of voluntary work. She is committed to the Weisser Ring association, which supports victims of crime. She is also patron of the campaign "Violence against women - Not with us" at the German Olympic Sports Federation.
