GF Piping Systems presents new line of butt fusion machines

Jun 3, 2008 7:00 AM

IFAT in Munich in early May 2008 offered the perfect platform for the premiere of the new butt fusion machine from GF Piping Systems. Behind the name TM (Trench Machine) stands a robust and versatile fusion machine for on-site use. The constructional design of the three versions, TM 160, 250 and 315, takes the users’ needs into consideration while also fulfilling national and international standards for fusion machines. The fusion machines in three sizes will be available on the market at the beginning of June 2008.

The Top line of machines includes an innovative and comfortable hydraulic power unit, while the Eco machines feature a lightweight, open hydraulic unit. The WR models come equipped with the WR 100 data recording device.

For over 40 years, GF Piping Systems has been developing and manufacturing high-quality butt fusion machines. This long-term experience is reflected in the robust design of the new TM butt fusion machines. Many extras, such as knurled handles, flange adapter clamping unit, angled upper clamps and a set of reduction clamp inserts, round off the package.

Robust and flexible

All the important components of the fusion machine, such as heating element, planer, clamping brackets, clamping positions and rapid-action couplings for the hydraulic hoses, are constructed for the harshest of environments. The improved cross-sectional profile allows easy handling while also reducing weight and increasing stability.

The clamping inserts of older Georg Fischer butt fusion machines can, of course, also be used. The innovative design of the upper clamping bracket makes it possible to rapidly and easily secure, align and remove the pipes.

By rotating the machine around the center line, a second work position is achieved, while maintaining the traction direction and the hydraulic hose connections. This function facilitates working in narrow trenches and increases flexibility. All the hydraulic and electric connections on the hydraulic power unit are protected on the back side of the machine. Also noteworthy: only one power cord is required.

Data storage for quality control

To document the quality of the joints, the machines can be fitted with the respective accessories for traceability of all fusion data. The WR 100 recording unit is calibrated and configured with the machine ex works. The actual fusion is compared with the selected standard and a printout of the parameters can subsequently be started.
