The engineers at GF Piping Systems have succeeded in finding the perfect balance between light permeability and long lifetime. They developed a piping system made of transparent PVC, which allows sufficient light in the right wavelength to pass through to the inside of the pipe, so that microalgae can grow. The algae cultivated in such bioreactors are harvested to produce biomass and biofuel. Moreover, these organisms bind carbon dioxide (CO2), which they require to grow. If CO2 is added to the algae bioreactors, for example from an incineration plant, CO2 emissions can be reduced. The first bioreactors for algae cultivation have now been released for use.

GF Piping Systems will focus on innovative system solutions in the chemical process industry at ACHEMA 2012 in Hall 8.0, Stand E64 from June 18 to 22. Bioreactors for growing algae will be resented for the first time. This application uses a new piping system made of transparent plastic for cultivating algae – a trendsetting raw material. At our spacious exhibition stand, visitors will find applications for chemical dosing, tank filling, indirect cooling and water treatment. In addition, GF Piping Systems will be giving an impressive demonstration of reverse osmosis.
Transport of chemical media in superior quality, in diverse concentrations and in precise doses is an important step in the chemical process industry. 20 years IR-fusion machines heralds the arrival of a new model
The IR-Plus machines are highly favored in microelectronic, photovoltaic and in chemical process industries. In July 1992, as the semiconductor industry began to boom, the first IR-63 and IR-225 fusion machines were delivered, contributing to the overall success of GF Piping Systems. It is therefore befitting that exactly 20 years later a further development has been announced, the IR-450 fusion machine.
Reverse osmosis demonstration
To produce drinking water or to enhance the performance of waste water treatment plants, the right selection of materials and products is essential in the system design phase. In plants with reverse osmosis, the use of new diaphragm technologies under 16 bar is possible. Here, GF Piping Systems offers the materials PVC-U, PP (PROGEF) and PE 100. For applications with high purity requirements and lower leach-out values PROGEF-Plus (PP-H purified) is ideal. All the components are manufactured by GF Piping Systems in the corresponding plastic so that homogenous connections are guaranteed. In Frankfurt, a reverse osmosis system for water treatment will be on display. The demonstration system made with PROGEF (PP) and PVC-U piping shows how this uncomplicated and highly economical precipitation process can be easily set up with products from the comprehensive product mix from Georg Fischer, including pipes, fittings, valves and automation.
