In-Person Certifications: 6 to 8 hours of high level training inside our 14,000 sq ft Training Centers' 60 seat classroom. This course will include video, powerpoint and booklet instructions from our Fusion Training Specialist, Adam Hester. The classroom curriculum will review the following: GF Central Plastics History, Polyethylene 101, General Information, Pipe Inspection and Preparation, Scraping, Peeling and Clamping, Cooling, Control Box and Power Requirements, Installation of Coupling and Sidewall, Re-Fusion, Installation of Tapping Tees and High Volume Tapping Tees including tapping the tee, Testing, Qualification, Requirements and Destructive Testing. Two 50 question written examinations will follow, students will be given 3 hour and 20 minutes to complete.
The Master Trainer course will also include a review of the GFCP Trainer Responsibilities including trainer tips and guidelines for performing electrofusion training in order to qualify others. A Master Trainer is certified to train Level 1 and/or Level 2 Electrofusion Installers for their company. Master Trainers will be allowed to use GFCP written training material.
6 hours of hands-on training inside our Hands-On Technical Lab. This portion will include the first hand demonstration of assembly provided by our Fusion Training Specialist. Each student will then assemble their own test samples. Our Fusion Training Specialist will observe and visually inspect the performance of each student, ensuring all instructions, procedures and best practices are followed. Assemblies will include a coupling and saddle assembly, a saddle and tapping assembly and a coupling assembly. Using 2 IPS pipe, fittings and utilizing our line of 2 IPS electrofusion equipment and tooling and a 16 IPS coupling assembly.
During hands-on training for a Master Trainer, the student will be required to demonstrate their assemblies as if they were presenting the installation to a student. Providing verbal instruction while performing their own test assemblies.
4 hours of destructive testing inside our world class Technical Testing Lab. This final portion of training will consist of destructively testing the student test samples. A hydraulic burst pressure test will be conducted on the coupling and saddle assembly. A joint integrity test will be conducted on the saddle and tapping assembly and a tensile strength test will be performed on the coupling assembly. A hydraulic burst pressure test will be conducted on the 16 IPS coupling assembly. Student in the Master Trainer course will be allowed to perform some tests during this portion.
